Dr. Carmen Loiselle (PORT Program Leader), is Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. She also holds an appointment as Director of the Oncology Nursing program in the Department of Oncology. She is currently a Nurse Scientist at the Centre for Nursing Research/Lady Davis Institute of the Jewish General Hospital and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). She holds a senior research career award from the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ) and has received major operating grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) and Health Canada. Dr. Loiselle has served as grant reviewer for CIHR, the National Cancer Institute of Canada (NCIC), the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Initiative (CBCRI), and FRSQ.
Dr. Loiselle's research interests include patient information-seeking behaviour, self-regulation, and adjustment to the illness experience. She is currently conducting research on the impact of health information technology on the health and well being of individuals with cancer and their family and their use of health care services.
Dr. Loiselle earned a B.Sc. degree in Nursing from the University of Montreal, Quebec, Canada (1982), a M.Sc. degree in Nursing (Community Mental Health) from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Wisconsin, U.S.A. (1988), and a Ph.D. in Nursing and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1995).
